Our next CBFA event will be Saturday, June 21, 2025, in Philadelphia at the Museum of the American Revolution. Please email to RSVP and help us determine the rate CBFA will pay to the museum.
The Museum of the American Revolution is going to be hosting a very special flag event, “Banners of Liberty: An Exhibition of Original Revolutionary War Flags” which is running from April 19th through August 10th. According to the exhibition notice, “The exhibition, which will be displayed in the Museum’s first-floor Patriots Gallery, will feature the largest gathering of rare and significant Revolutionary War flags in more than two centuries.” This is a fantastic way to see flags that are rarely, if ever, on display, all gathered in one place. There will also be some other 18th century flags that are not typically seen, including an 18th century Stars and Stripes flag provided by Jeff Bridgman, and the Wayne Flag which is held by the Indiana Historical Bureau.
Our plan is to meet at the Museum at 11am and to have lunch together in the Museum Café, giving plenty of time to see the Flag exhibition, followed by lunch, and everyone free to tour other parts of the museum in the afternoon. You’re welcome to make a weekend of the trip if you decide to stay in Philadelphia, or to make a day trip of the visit. There’s a lot to see and do in the city if you haven’t visited before, including historic tours and a range of museums.
We hope you’re able to make it to what will be a great early Summer weekend seeing some incredible historic flags!
